In this almost photojournalistic, photography-focussed issue, among other features, Blaise Tobia looks at the photography project in Detroit "Demolished by Neglect" that makes the invisible visible by putting billboard-size photographs on the facades of the buildings whose insides they depict; William U. Eiland interviews Keith Piaseczny and Marilyn Zimmerman (who founded the Urban Center for Photography that started the "Demolished by Neglect" project); Ken Bloom's look at how Dan Price addresses the most vulnerable sides of the human condition in his series Shots; and Mildred Thompson interviews Norma Holt to discuss Holt's portrayals of older women, particularly in her exhibition "Africa Unadorned" at Spelman. This issue also features an insert for the National Endowment for the Arts and the Southern Arts Federation's Photography Fellowships. Notable reviews include Timothy W. Luke's review of a showing of Georgia O'Keeffe's work at the Dallas Museum of Art, D. Eric Bookhardt's review of Martin Payton's sculpture at the Simms, and Michel Oren's review of Vernon Fisher's "Parallel Lines."
